Very good tutorial! Your methods are straight forward and sensible. It is a great idea to glue a stop on your saw. It makes it very easy to get the correct depth.
I'm tired all those woodworking machine tools abusing the wood it's time for me to watch some real wood art from traditional Japanese woodworkers.very educating nice saw.im watching you from Greece bravo 👏
Thank you for this very inspiring video. You are a true master! I tried to do this, but I find it difficult to get the precise distances between the saw cuts. :\ Could you tell us how you measure and mark the places for your saw cuts?
Thank you for watching. In Japan, we mark the timber with a tool like "knife" named "shiragaki". We will measure the distance based on the mark of only about 0, 1 mm. Otherwise it will not be accurate. Please do your best.
when you start to cut while keep the cover putting, I thought "What's going on?!" LOL. the stopper (jig) is handmaid? I first saw it in Dozuki saws. anyway thanks I learned how to make for Kumiko by handmaid.
Patience grasshopper !!! It is called Kumiko and is used for enhancing doors, windows, and basically anything that you would like to stand out in any room.
Greetings! I like your technique of doing this craft. I would love to learn this art! One question if I may. I see that you have a depth gauge attached to your saw. How is it attached? Permanently glued? Have you made this a dedicated saw to this depth of cut? Thank you for posting this video
i was thinking about it too.; first i thought of a strong magnet. but then i saw it's more like a strip of wood if you are planning to do this alot. perhaps it's glued on it. but maybe i should try to do it with a magnet. for 10 euro you have one.
+sander willie I thought about it more as well. More likely it is attached with two sided tape. A magnet might not pull off easy but it could slide around with out much effort.
Thank you very much. I am very happy. In order to keep the depth of the cut, a ruler is attached to the saw. However, it is not completely bonded. It is attached with tape so that it can be removed.

Thank you for watching.
My teacher taught me to attach a stopper.
Thank you so much! I looked forever for a video on how to make kumiko pieces without power tools, finally I found it :)

thank you for your comment. Your comment is very glad for me. I am an inexperienced person, but I would like to do my best to get your comments.
Why did he flip the jig around to make the grooves second cut, when they are parallel??
Are your base cutiing jig in 60 degree ? Or 45 degree ? Tx
Masterful! I was wondering what size saw and marking tool are you using? thanks
Thank you for your visit. The thickness of the saw blade is 0, 3 mm, marking uses "shiragaki" in order to damage the wood.

I think that clip is all right.
are the strips made of bamboo ?
I'm sorry. I did not understand your comment well.
@@pisspissgoo this person asks, "what kind of wood are you using?"
Doesn’t seem like bamboo, especially during cuts. Probably a soft / medium soft wood like pine
Nice
